Jack Adams AKA Mumdance is an artist really coming into his stride. His eclectic music taste and original slant on music has fast earnt him a international notoriety
Jack is at the forefront of the emerging “Global Bass” scene. A sound he and a handful of his peers have pioneered over the past year or so breaking many boundaries in the process.
The key to this movement is that EVERYTHING is fair game to be sampled and used as an influence. Regional music from around the world is embraced & all music genres, styles sounds & tempos are encompassed.
Although easy to spot, his sound is constantly changing and evolving, a key feature allowing total artistic freedom and a licence to constantly explore new musical territory, so much so that when people come to see him play they now do so with an open mind and expectancy.
The success of this formula is reflected in the wide range of events that Jack gets booked to play, ranging from rowdy East End grime raves, to chic fashion and media events.
Jack has played pretty much every worthwhile event up and down the UK and toured extensively throughout Europe. 2008 saw him headline shows in Milan, Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, Geneva, Amsterdam, Den Haag, Innsbruck, Graz, Prague & Dublin. As well as playing venues & events such as Matter, Fabric Room 1, Paris Social Club, Stealth, Digital, Bestival, Great Escape Festival & Notting Hill Carnival.
As a former employee, Jack is also a Vice Magazine favorite and is a staple artist at most of their events.
Barely three months into making music, Jack caught the attention of Diplo by bootlegging his remix of the Black Lips’ “Veni Vidi Vicii” and giving it an unusual baile – grime glaze by adding beats, bleeps and MC Jammer. This unofficial bootleg received national radio play from as well as being a huge hit on the club and blog circuit. Diplo was so impressed, he commissioned Jack to remix major label artist Santogold) and new wave tropical favourite El Guincho
A real “Artist’s Artist” Jack has drawn the attention of the main players in a huge range of musical genres. Diplo, Sinden, Brodinski, Westwood, Radioclit, Annie Mac, Tayo, Rob Da Bank, Logan Sama, Drop The Lime, Drums of Death, Evil Nine, Buraka Som Systema, DJ Zinc, AC Slater, Andy George & Jaymo can all be counted as fans and have shown a great amount of radio and club support.
His remix work is known internationally for breaking new ground, although all his remixes sound different, his signature is showcasing East London Grime MC’s through guest 16 bar appearances. This is a brand new template that is now imitated by many producers around the world.
Eleven remixes down the line, (see discography below) Jack feels he has found his feet production wise & is currently in the studio writing some original material, which has already provoked interest from a number of A&Rs from independent and major labels.
Alongside this he is working on a number of collaborations with producers from various genres, most notably French minimalist Brodinski, fellow regional music lovers Radioclit & Horror Dubstep producer High Rankin
